Story Selling
Fact: In today’s crowded market, it is getting harder and harder to get the business, to be different from our competitors.
Fact: Today’s consumer has all the power. They are in the driver’s seat. Lots of options. They don’t need you. You need them.
Problem: How do we stand out in our market? How do we have a competitive advantage if we are all offering the same thing?
Answer: The EXPERIENCE. It’s the one way you can differentiate yourself.
Fact: The consumer is buying based on THE EXPERIENCE they receive when they work with you, every step of the way – every face who tells the story of your brand.
Fact: You must be able to create a CONNECTION with your buyer. An EMOTIONAL CONNECTION.
Bonus Fact: You must also be able to connect with your EMPLOYEES if you want them to stay and want them motivated to connect with your customers.
Problem: How? How do we CREATE INTENTIONAL CONNECTIONS?
Answer: STORY.
First you have to want to connect, and get your people to want to connect. How? By connecting with them first. And connecting them to the brand story.
Then you have to shift your perspective from using facts and figures and data to connect – to using story. Story is what makes data emotional.
When you connect with someone, what is really happening, is that you are sharing your story and they are sharing theirs. You are connecting on a deeper emotional level. It is simply the sharing of stories that make the connection.
Bad news: This means a lot of work. You have to look at every interaction you have with your employees and customers and analyze your ability to create stronger emotional connections.
Good news: Your competitors aren’t doing it.
Even better news: Connecting makes everybody happier and feeling more valued.
Change your story, change your life.
Change your story, change your business.
Change your story, change your world.
